4. What are some of the events hosted by ELF?
Each year, ELF hosts a series of events to help developing healthcare professionals learn from the experts in the field, refine skills, establish a community and collectively develop ideas on how we can enable transformation in healthcare. ELF events fall within one of the four ELF pillars:
- Speaker Series:Evenings with industry leaders, rolling up their sleeves and sharing candid insights with ELF members. ELF has been hosting these Speakers Series since its inception in 2006. Past speakers include Hon. George Smitherman (former Minister, Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care), Richard Alvarez (President & CEO, Canada Health Infoway), Penny Ballem (former Deputy Minister, British Columbia Ministry of Health), Alan Hudson (Chairman, Ontario eHealth Office) and more. For a complete list and summaries of our past Speaker Series, check out the “Past Events” section.
- Guided Leadership Sessions: Connecting industry leaders with ELF members, to provide coaching and advice. This is a new pillar established in 2008. Check out our first GLS event that featured Richard Alvarez, Ken Deane, Matthew Morgan, and Catherine Zahn.
- Development Seminars: Intimate events designed to help ELF members develop various skill sets. This also is a new pillar established in 2008. In our first Development Seminar, Longwoods Publishing and Matt Morgan shared their insights on how emerging leaders can get their ideas published in leading healthcare journals.
- Think Tank (coming): Sub-groups of ELF members, coached by an industry leader, focused on sharing their thoughts and ideas on a specific healthcare issue. Look out for more information in the fall of 2009. If you’re interested in participating in the Think Tank and have some ideas, email us at elf@emergingleaderforum.com.
